Wilson's Prom, South End 1997.
This walk was undertaken before the track from Waterloo around the coast to the lighthouse was put in. Five of us made the walk, and a splendid stroll it was.
Sensational. Have a look.

Day 1: From the Oberon carpark, we walked in to Halfway Hut on the lighthouse track.
On the way.

In Camp behind Halfway Hut, a much better deal than the hut itself.

The broken strap... be prepared!
Day 2: On to Waterloo Bay, off the south end of the beach and up Boatharbour Hill to spend a night above the cliffs.
Majestic Monkey Rocks, on the track to Waterloo Bay.
First sight of Waterloo Bay.

Swimming at the south end of Waterloo Bay. We thought he was joking...

View north west to Mt Wilson and ranges from the slopes of Boatharbour. The track to Waterloo comes over the little saddle in the middle of the picture and heads down to the right.
Panorama from the top of Boatharbour Hill, taking in waterloo Bay from the slopes of Mt. Boulder in the west, to the Balancing Rock in the east. Click it for a larger version. The Balancing Rock, in the foreground at right, can be seen as part of the skyline from parts of the Waterloo track. It is about five metres high.
Monkey Rocks, on the Waterloo track, are just behind Mt. Boulder. Think of them as the link to the east end of the Oberon Bay panorama. Together these panoramas cover a band right across the prom from west to east.
Day 3: Up past the Balancing Rock, along the coastal range and down to Fenwick Cove to camp.
Taken on a different trip, from the top of Mt Kersop, this shot takes in Waterloo Bay and a glimpse of the coastline we followed to the lighthouse.

View from the southern side of Boatharbour Hill. The camera cant take it in. This shot was with a 24mm lens. Below us was Fenwick Cove (one of the disputed names onthe Prom map) where we would camp, the lighthouse and Rodondo Island in the distance. The slope down to the camp is at least as steep as the slopes of South Peak, which we see rising to the west from behind the lighthouse.

Heading down the hill....

Getting closer to camp, and the view is still incredible.

Dawn next day at Fenwick Cove, looking east from the rocks near our campsite. This was a 20 second exposure, the sun barely up.
Day 4: On to the lighthouse, cuppa with the lighthouse keeper and a night at the Roaring Meg campsite, where luxurious rations had been judiciously placed in hiding the previous week.

The lighthouse and Rodondo Island. Can't get enough.

This is where we picked up the maintainence track to the lighthouse water supply.
